Personally, I like them, except when you get somebody in front of that wants to use the self-check but can't figure it out so the attendant has to come over and check everything out for them, show them how to use their card, etc....
But that's not the rant of the day... the recordings are. I mean, come on! "Please scan your first item...", like I'm not smart enough to start scanning without the machine telling me it's time to start.
But the absolute most useless of the recordings these machines use is the one that says, "Please take your items. thank you for shoppping..."
NO KIDDING??? I'm supposed to take my items? No, I think I'll just bring all this up here, ring it up, pay for it and THEN LEAVE IT SIT ON THE REGISTER and go home!!!
Are the people who program these things morons? Or maybe they work for Microsoft, Google or Oracle and think the rest of us are morons that need to be reminded to take the stuff we just paid for.
I suggested to a Walmart attendant once that she should put in a suggestion for the next generation (version) of software for the machine; include a "VOICE OFF" button!
